About The Artist

Painting has always been a passion for Susannah. She grew up in the small town of Gramling, South Carolina. She graduated from Converse College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. During that time Susannah spent a summer painting and studying art history with the University of Georgia’s program in Cortona Italy. It was there surrounded by Renaissance art, incredible architecture and the beautiful Tuscan light that she knew she would become a painter.

When first moving to Charleston in the 1990’s she showed her art in Unity Gallery as well as showed in Piccolo Spoleto outdoor art festival. On her seventh and final year showing in the festival she won the Mayor’s top award for “Best in Show”.

Over the years Susannah has had the opportunity to study under many master painters the Tuscany, Umbria and Le Marche regions of Italy as well as San Miguel, Mexico. She also studied in the Midwest with Russian impressionist painter Ovanes Berberian.

From 2019 through 2022 Susannah was honored to show her works in Le Prince Fine Art gallery in downtown Charleston showcasing landscape, cityscapes and still life works. Although she enjoys painting all subjects it’s the figure that has always been her first love. Now, primarily focused on portrait commissioned work Susannah enjoys working with clients to capture their loved one’s spirit and likeness on the canvas.
